I am trained in several evidenced based therapeutic approaches: Systemic Psychotherapy, Integrative Psychotherapy (incorporating Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, CBT & Mindfulness), Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and EMDR. How we work together is tailored to your needs and wishes, so you can receive the care and support that feels right for you.
I believe that the therapeutic process is collaborative & that our therapeutic relationship is important. Together, we will work to address the challenges you are facing and support you to develop awareness, utilising your insight and internal resources to achieve your goals in therapy.
How do I choose a therapist?This is subjective so will vary depending on what you're looking for. Here are some things you may want to consider or already be thinking about: -It is important to find a therapist that you connect with and who feels right for you. Building a trusted therapeutic relationship is central to the therapeutic process. -Accreditation of the therapist and experience in the area you want to explore is also important. Therapists should be registered with an organisation like the UKCP or BACP and credentials should be readily available online. You can double check this by visiting the UKCP / BACP sites directly and searching the therapist's name. -Therapists should have current insurance, a DBS check & receive regular ongoing supervision. This is to support therapist safe working practices. Therapy is often an investment of time, money and energy, so please don't be afraid to ask questions during your search. Most therapists have a network & if they aren't the right fit for you, should offer to signpost or refer you to someone who can help. What if I need to cancel a session?Please let me know as soon as possible if you need to cancel your session Cancellation policy: 100% of fees are payable if a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice
BACP, MBACP, MBACPAccred, UKCP - what does it all mean?The BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) is a professional body of counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK. There are different membership levels. MBACP: Means that the therapist is a registered member of BACP. Therapists can register with the BACP while studying and post qualification if the course is accredited. MBACPAccred: Means that the therapist is both a registered and accredited member of the BACP. To become an accredited member, the therapist must go through a rigorous accreditation process and have completed a minimum of 450 hours of client work. Accreditation is a quality standard for experienced practitioners. UKCP: Means that the therapist is a member of the UKCP. Membership is awarded following completion of a qualifying course and a rigorous application process. I don't have a fixed schedule - do you offer flexible appointments?Yes! I understand shifting schedules. There are flexible booking options & we don't have to agree a fixed time and day each week. Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly depending on your needs. Much of the therapeutic process takes place outside of the therapy room and it can be helpful to have a gap between sessions to allow time for this.
How much does therapy cost?Sessions last an hour and are: £100 for an individual £120 for a couple or family Please check out the therapeutic resources on the homepage for no and low cost therapy options
Are our sessions private? When would you break confidentiality?Therapy sessions are confidential & this forms part of the agreement we make at the start of our work together. Occasionally confidentiality has to be broken if there is a safeguarding concern (a risk to yourself or someone else). In this instance I would need to inform your GP and any other relevant services, but we would discuss this together. I am bound by the BACP & UKCP ethical codes in relation to confidentiality. I am open to working with NDA's.

What happens in the first session?The first session is a chance for you to share what is going on for you and what you would like to work on in therapy. I will complete an initial assessment with you and make suggestions on how to proceed based on our discussions. It can feel nerve wracking coming to the first appointment, so we will work at a pace you feel comfortable with.
Where are you based?I am based in the UK and willing to travel. I am also available remotely worldwide depending on the service you require

Why should I hire an on set therapist?Mental health and emotional wellbeing is equally important to physical health. Similarly to hiring an on-set medic, having a mental health professional available ensures the provision of preventative & responsive care. This is particularly important when filming sensitive content that might be triggering for people, and more generally when shoot days are challenging or stressful. Due to the nature of filming, people often don't have the time or energy to seek support from external sources, which can exacerbate an issue. The presence of an on-set therapist means that concerns can be attended to efficiently in a way that balances the demands of the filming process with the needs of cast and crew.
